Welcome to a new monthly series!
I think we all need a break from the perfection presented to us on the internet. At least I do, and if you don’t… Well good for you for being a stronger person than me.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a well-edited, thought-out and arranged photo as much as any visual person does, but seeing only those kinds of pictures comes with some downsides. For one, it makes me feel like shit about my photography skills. Second, and even more important, it makes me feel shit about my ordinary, not edited and not perfect life.
In this series, I’m going to share unedited pictures straight from my camera roll as a way for me to look back on the month and give you a glimpse into my life.
However, the whole post won’t be just a picture gallery. I also wanted a place to record some quotes heard and said throughout the month. Wonderful, funny and unique people surround me and sometimes I hear the wildest stories at work. Keeping these things to myself feels like such a shame, so I’m including them in these posts.
As my first month of blogging comes to an end, let’s get into our first instalment of Snapshots and Scribbles!
“Two groups of women started fighting each other at the cruise I went on. The main artist was doing his gig, and the group of younger women had gotten up on the benches, blocking the middle-aged women from seeing anything. After some words were changed, one of the younger women turned around and punched someone of the other group in the face. A full-on fight broke out; kicking and punhcing and hair pulling, everything.
The younger women were dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
– My friend, casually dropping the craziest story while leaving a party
“I’m learning how to enjoy my day-to-day life. For so long I’ve just been going from one goal to the next and now that I’ve graduated, I just want to lay on the couch for a while.”
“You deserve that. Life happens in the small moments. You’ve worked so hard to get here, nothing bad is going to happen if you spend a couple of months doing nothing.”
– A friend and I having coffee and talking about life after graduation.
“Well, your apology is simply not enough. We’ve been sitting here surrounded by empty plates and now there is no coffee. Go brew it instead of just standing there!”
– A customer at lunch. I was working with a brand new trainee and we were doing everything as fast as we could.
“I wouldn’t mind if you lived somewhere closer.”
– My dad as we were about to fall asleep.
“I’m normally a very patient person, but I haven’t had breakfast yet. I’m finding it hard to not roll my eyes and sigh loudly.”
– Me to my mom, waiting for my turn to buy a new phone.
And there you have it, a small look at my life in November!
I can’t believe this year is almost done… Just one more month to go.
– All my love, Ansku
PS. I’m not quite sure if I like this post’s format, it looks a bit messy and hard to follow, but this was only my first try so I’ll give myself grace. If you have any ideas for the layout, leave me a comment and let me know!
